Mounted photographs of specimens, many housed in the department, some owned by other institutions. Photographs portraying fossil amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals comprise the bulk of the collection. Photographs are identified by name and negative number, and where applicable and known, catalog number. Other photographs depict fossil tracks and footprints, various laboratory methods used in the preparation of specimens and the preparators, fossils as found in the field, and field photographs of sites in Asia, Europe, South America, United States, and Canada. Photographs show reconstructions of fossils in the form of paintings and models by Charles R. Knight, J.M. Gleason, Margaret M. Colbert, and others. A few photographs depict maps, charts, murals, and geological and paleobotanical subjects. Also, a small amount of information produced by Sinclair Oil Company pertaining to dinosaurs.
